Marginal Risk for Severe Weather Monday
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- The Southeast braces for severe weather Monday. The Storm Prediction Center has issued an Enhanced Risk for the middle of Tennessee into northern Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather for counties along the South Carolina/Georgia border extending towards the Midlands.
The risk decreases as you travel northeast.
A surface area of low pressure will move east today, through Tennessee and towards South Carolina. A trailing cold front will sweep through Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Strong storms expected this afternoon throughout the southeast.
Heavy rain, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes possible in the area under a 'slight' and 'enhanced' risk.
The Midlands will likely see strong winds and moments of heavy rain, but we're not ruling out the possibility of an isolated tornado.
