    No viable threat to Lugoff-Elgin High after social media threat, deputies say<p>{/p}

    KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WACH) – Lugoff-Elgin High School says they’re aware of a social media post that went viral last night that has caused concern.

    The high school said via a Facebook post Friday morning that the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office has investigated the incident and determined that there is no threat, however.

    The department said they have no reason to believe the post didn’t originate from a student in Lugoff, but from a student from Broome High School in Spartanburg.

    The department says parents and students shouldn't worry, but that parents should tell their students it isn't funny to joke around about these threats and that they can be severely punished if they do.

    Local law enforcement will continue to patrol in and around all Kershaw County School District schools with extra attention.
