COLUMBIA (WACH) -- David Bass, the parent who was arrested and charged with assaulting a school resource officer yesterday at Dreher High School, has been terminated from his duties as an assistant boys and girls swimming coach at Dreher.

Bass also has been put on a full no-trespassing notice for all Richland One property, per the judgeâ??s order from his bond hearing that was held earlier this morning.

Investigators say 47 year-old David Bass is charged with 3rd Degree Assault and Battery, disturbing schools and resisting arrest.

According to the police report Bass arrived at the school while EMS was talking to his daughter about a medical condition.

The report says Bass asked to see his child and officers asked him to wait until medical staff finished their evaluation.

That's when Investigators say Bass kicked in the door and attacked the officer.

The report states Bass grabbed the Student Resource Officer by his neck and pushed his head into the wall, making a hole in the wall.

Officers with the help of EMS were able to place Bass under arrest.

The SRO suffered minor injuries to his face and neck. Columbia Police say the student resource officer did his job, protecting himself and the student.
