Progressive Church Food Pantry taking donations for the poor

The Progressive Church Food Pantry has a new program that serves the less fortunate and low-income families in the Midlands.

It started a few months ago and it has the motto of "nourishing families and communities."

The program also works to educate the community about healthy nutrition and how to budget for a low food income.

The Progressive Church Food Pantry will be collecting non-perishable and monetary donations on August 12 at five BILO stores :

7830 Garners Ferry Road. Columbia, S.C.

4464 Devine Street. Columbia, S.C.

2349 Augusta Road. Columbia, S.C.

9003 Two Notch Road. Columbia, S.C.

300 Knox Abbott Drive. Cayce, S.C.

The pantry's Vernell Jenkins, Madeline Diamond and Shamecka Wright stopped by WACH FOX's "Good Day Columbia" on Monday to speak more about this collection.

And if you're unable to make it to one of the five collections, the Progressive Church Food Pantry will also accept non-perishable, monetary, and clothing donations at 2222 Barhamville Road. Columbia, S.C. 29204.
