Report: Kershaw Officer found man lying on his back with part of his skull missing
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate after a man's body was found behind a building in Jefferson last week.
On August 10, an officer from the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department responded to a call after two teenage boys reported that they found a dead body.
Once on the scene, there were approximate 15 people standing near Bob Hugh Road who informed the officer that a dead body was near a brick structure.
As the officer walked to where the witnesses were pointing he found 30-year-old Tykendrick Williamson lying on his back with the top portion of his skill missing.
The officer believed the body had been there for a while and looked to be decomposing as the skin appeared to be a waxy and had a burnt color.
Deputies say Williamson was murdered and that his body was put behind the building “several days earlier.”
Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews says his department, along with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department, have been working the investigation together because Williamson was known to frequent the Kershaw area of Lancaster County.
Investigators have also learned that there was a physical altercation with another black man in Lancaster County prior to Williamson being murdered.
At this time investigators do not have a solid motive right now but are interviewing potential witnesses.
Anyone with information about the incident are asked to call Inv. Chris Davis at 803-425-1512 with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s office or Inv. Brad Whiteside with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388.
