Saturday morning car accident leads to gunfire; $125,000 bond set

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) - An Orangeburg man is in custody after shooting at two people Saturday morning.

Deputies responded to a call of shots fired at the intersection of Kitti Wake Drive and Emanuel Church Road. Martel Dekarlos Gaddis, 34, shot at a man and woman after crashing into the back of their car.

Gaddis was identified as the shooter after deputies spoke with witnesses. He was arrested at a nearby convenience store and is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

A bond hearing set his total bond at $125,000. Per the Lexington County Sheriff's Department website, this includes:

  • Two (2) attempted murder charges at $50,000 each, totaling to $100,000
  • One (1) possession of a weapon during a violent crime charge at $25,000

The investigation into this shooting is still open.
