Second suspect arrested in missing 11-month old case (WPDE)

A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a missing 11-month-old, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Police posted to Facebook that the man arrested is the boyfriend of the baby's mother.

Ladasha Harriet, the mother of the baby, has been charged with homicide by child abuse, according to police. Police say Daquan Jamal Simmons is also being charged with homicide by child abuse.

"Our thoughts and prayesr go out to the family of the baby, as well as the officials who've worked on this investigation," said Captain Joey Crosby, the public information officer for the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

On Wednesday, police started investigating the report of a baby missing since July.

Neighbors say they have not seen the baby since July.

On Thursday, officials served a search warrant on 3rd Avenue South in Myrtle Beach they say related to the case.

Police say the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Special Victim's Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Harriet and Simmons will appear before a Circuit Court Judge for a bond hearing at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
