S.C. National Guard soldiers return in time for Christmas

    Columbia, S.C. (WACH)-- Several Midlands families got a long-awaited gift just in time for the holidays.

    A South Carolina National Guard unit overseas for the past 10 months landed back on American soil Saturday morning.

    They were met by loved ones and a short ceremony honoring their service, including a speech by U.S. Representative Joe Wilson.

    The 742 Support Maintenance Company returned from deployment in Europe. The unit provided maintenance and repair capabilities for vehicles, electronics and small arm devices with the 16th Sustainment Brigade and U.S. Army Europe.

    They landed at Eagle Aviation around 10 a.m.
