MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WACH) - One person, 25-year-old Zachary Owens, has been arrested on charges that he killed a Lexington man.

Police say he shot and killed 26-year-old Ryan Burt early Saturday morning who body was found lying along the beach.

According to investigators, Owens called police and told them he shot Burt as he was trying to go home after seeing a fight at a restaurant.

He says Burt came up to him and started punching him in the face. Owens told police he was scared for his life.

Owens is facing one count of voluntary manslaughter. He is being held at the North Myrtle Beach jail.
