Teammates remember Brett Williams as talented ballplayer, role model
LEXINGTON, SC (WACH) - Days after a 16-year-old White Knoll student, baseball standout and USC commit passed away unexpectedly his teammates and friends remembered Brett Williams.
"He's always been a great guy and always been a role model to me, I'm going to miss him," said Ricky Williams.
The White Knoll standout was just a sophomore, but already verbally committed to play collegiality at USC, which was no surprise to his teammates.
"He was always the best athlete on the team, best player on the team, really the best person on the team," said Simms Owens.
The White Knoll baseball field will have his number 22 enshrined behind home plate for the season to ensure he is always with his team.
"I know Brett wouldn't want us to be down, he would want us to look at it in a positive way, so I'm just praying to him and praying Jesus, remembering the good times with him," said Noah Lebron.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, with funeral proceedings taking place Saturday.
