Three arrested with drugs and more than $13,000 in cash

NEWBERRY COUNTY, SC (WACH) – Three men have been arrested for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and other charges after being found in possession of more than 22 grams of marijuana and more than $13,000 in cash.

Seventeen-year-old Cahlid Jamel Clark, 22-year-old Teandre Germaine Hunter and 20-yearold Antonio Malik Washington, Jr. are charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Clark is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia while Hunter is charged with driving under suspension.

According to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle on Reid Street Thursday night around 6 p.m. for a traffic violation.

Once the vehicle was stopped, deputies found that the driver’s license was suspended and there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The deputy, along with another officer, searched the three suspects in the vehicle as well as the vehicle itself. They then found more than 22 grams of marijuana and just over $13,000 in cash wrapped in rubber bands in separate stacks.

The three suspects were arrested and taken to the Newberry County Detention Center without incident.

A bond hearing is set for some time Friday.
