Three dead after head-on collision in Calhoun County

CALHOUN COUNTY, SC (WACH) – Three people are dead after a head-on collision in Calhoun County Monday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident happened just before 8 p.m. on U.S. 176 and involved a 2005 Honda Civic and a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro.

The Honda Civic was traveling westbound on 176 while the Chevrolet Camaro was traveling eastbound when the Camaro went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, lost control, went back over the center line and hit the Honda head-on.

The driver of the Honda was killed and was wearing a seat belt while the passenger was killed who wasn’t wearing a seat belt. The driver of the Camaro wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was also killed.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
