USC couple ties the knot at planned ceremony

RIDGEWAY (WACH)-A local couple has tied the knot thanks to a group of students at the University of South Carolina.

Sam Johnson and Ashley Wheeling-Goodson's paths crossed 11 years ago on the campus of USC.

They were one of three couples selected to win a free wedding planned by students in Annette Hoover’s wedding planning class.

The wedding was made possible through the students hard work, local business and donations.

Johnson and Wheeling-Goodson said 'I do' Thursday evening at The Farm at Ridgeway in Ridgeway, SC.

Judge DeAndrea Benjamin was the officiant, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin, former Mayor Bob Coble, Columbia City Council members Sam Davis, and Tameika Isaac Devine were all there.

Johnson served as an aide to Mayor Benjamin and is now a law clerk at the Nexsen Pruet law firm, finishing Law School.

Wheeling-Goodson is a lawyer at McAngus Goudelock & Courie LLC in Columbia, SC.
