USC to remain closed through Monday, open Tuesday, officials say
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – The University of South Carolina- Columbia campus will remain closed and classes are canceled through Monday, Sept. 17, according to the university.
University officials say they anticipate campus will resume normal operations, including all classes, on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
USC is required to follow the delay and closing schedule of the county government as a state agency, the university says. However, the schedule is subject to change depending on conditions following the weekend’s weather and instructions from Gov. McMaster.
Essential personnel should still report to campus, however. Essential student services including housing, food service and the Student Health Center will continue to operate. USC reminds students who may be travelling home to exercise caution and closely monitor weather forecasts.
The university says they are consulting with state and local officials as they continue to access the situation as they track Hurricane Florence.
