Volunteer firefighter shot,killed in NE Columbia


COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- One man has been identified as the victim in the fatal shooting that occurred overnight in Northeast Columbia

The Richland County Coroner has confirmed that 20-year-old Brandon Logan Kilbourne was shot on Hardscrabble Road early Tuesday morning.

Kilborne was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital where he later died just after 1 a.m.

An autopsy indicated that Kilbourne died from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Kilbourne was a volunteer firefighter with the Lugoff and Fire Departments and leaves behind his pregnant wife whom he married in April.

A GoFundMe account was created to help his wife cover funeral costs as well as raising their unborn child.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department has detained one person in connection with the shooting and continues to investigate this incident.
