COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - Richland One Middle College (ROMC) is not your typical high school but it was a perfect fit for senior Ashley Ramirez, who will graduate this spring with a high school diploma and two associate college degrees. She says enrolling there was the best decision, but also a hard one for her.

“Though I missed my old friends and teachers, I was encouraged at ROMC to focus more on my future and where I wanted to be. Whether it was writing my recommendation letter that led to me earning thousands in scholarships, helping me understand my college calculus class, or even driving me home from events, all of the staff have touched my heart.”

At the Richland One Middle College, classes usually don’t start until 9:30 a.m. or later, it’s located on a college campus and, in 2017, it boasted a 100% graduation rate. This award-winning school on the Beltline campus of Midlands Technical College offers high school juniors and seniors small classes, free college courses and textbooks, flexible school hours and exceptional academic opportunities that can prepare them for college or the workforce.

Parents and students interested in learning more about ROMC are invited to attend an information night on May 31 at 6:30 p.m. in room 130 of Richland Hall at Midlands Tech, 316 South Beltline Boulevard. ROMC is opening enrollment to interested applicants for the 2018-2019 school year. Online applications are available at Students and parents also may get additional information about the Richland One Middle College by calling (803) 738-7123.
