Shock waves were sent around Panther nation after the Carolina Panthers announced they were trading star wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 3rd and 7th round draft pick in 2018.

Panther fans everywhere were stunned by the news, and the Carolina Panthers' players appeared to be just as shocked.

Star linebacker Thomas Davis took to Twitter to simply write, "Bruh.............."

Late Tuesday night, quarterback Cam Newton posted his own tribute to Kelvin Benjamin on Instagram, saying, "Some things you will never understand. Miss my dogs."

On Wednesday, Newton met the press and was immediately asked about the Benjamin trade. In a season that has had a lot of controversy surrounding Newton and his press conferences, his answer was very straight forward.

"I pretty much found out when y'all found out," Newton said. "But I don't wanna dwell on that. Obviously, an emotional connection, but that can't be a distraction for our preparation this week."

Head coach Ron Rivera also took to the podium at Bank of America Stadium on Wednesday and said he thinks this will actually help the offense.

Regarding the offense without Benjamin, Rivera said, "When you have some vertical speed it gets (defenses) to back off a little bit. We saw a lot of single safety with the other safety in the box. And we had to do something to help alleviate the pressure on the offense to run the ball."

After playing their last two games on the road, the Panthers return home to Charlotte on Sunday to take on the Atlanta Falcons in another NFC South showdown.
