Clemson, College of Charleston could meet in NCAA 2nd Round
Today is "Selection Sunday" where 68 men's basketball teams find out if they made the NCAA tournament and what their seeding would be.
Going into Sunday's selection show on TBS, Clemson fans knew the Tigers would be in after a stellar season that ended with a loss to top-ranked Virginia in the ACC semifinals.
Clemson earned a 5-seed in the Midwest region of the bracket and will open play on Friday against (12)New Mexico State. That game will be played in San Diego, California.
Then, there was a little bit of a twist for South Carolina residents. College of Charleston, the Colonial Athletic Association tournament champions, drew a 13-seed in the tournament and will open against 4-seed Auburn.
College of Charleston is also in the Midwest region and is in the same half of the draw as Clemson. The two teams could meet in the 2nd round if both win their first round games.
The overall top-seed for the tournament is Virginia with Villanova, Xavier, and Kansas also 1-seeds.
Duke, North Carolina, Cincinnati, and Purdue are the tournament's 2-seeds. Virginia and UNC will open play this weekend in Charlotte, NC.
