Gamecocks' Adam Hill, Carlos Cortes drafted by NY Mets
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- Adam Hill and Carlos Cortes could be staying teammates in the years to come, after both were drafted Monday by the New York Mets.
Cortes was selected in the third round with the 83rd overall pick while Hill was picked in the fourth round at pick 110.
According to MLB.com, Cortes slot value is $705,300 while Hill's value is $507,800.
This is the second time that the Mets have drafted Cortes. In 2016, NY selected the second basemen/ outfielder in the 20th round out of high school.
If they decide to turn pro, the two could be staying in Columbia to play for the Mets A affiliate, the Columbia Fireflies. In 2016, former Gamecock Gene Cone was drafted by the Mets and played his first full pro season with the Fireflies in 2017.
