Gamecocks moving on from Missouri loss

The South Carolina women's basketball team had their game faces on during Wednesday's practice ahead of their home game against Auburn on Thursday.

Coming off a controversial loss to Missouri, in which head coach Dawn Staley was ejected and star forward A'ja Wilson fouled out, the Gamecocks made it clear that they have moved on from Sunday's loss. However, they are using it as fuel to get back on the winning track.

"As a competitor, you wanna get back on the winning side of things," Staley said. "Our players have been focused in on what we need to do to be successful against Auburn."

Wilson said she obviously isn't happy with coming out of Missouri with a loss, but that she is looking at it as a way to improve the team's overall play.

"We lose and we kind of learn from it," Wilson said. "I think we always have fire in us. It just kind of sparked it a little bit more."

The team did say they are happy to be back at home this weekend where they will not only take on Auburn, but also host number 6-ranked Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.

"We're gonna come out and do us," Wilson said. "We're here at the CLA. Our fans are gonna be with us so we're just gonna take it one game at a time."

South Carolina hosts Auburn on Thursday, January 11th at 7 pm at Colonial Life Arena.
