McCaskill makes debut with US women's soccer team
Former Gamecock forward Savannah McCaskill has already made history this season and will likely go down as the greatest Gamecock soccer player ever.
She led South Carolina's women's soccer team to their first ever College Cup this season where they lost to Stanford in the last four.
Then, just last week, McCaskill was selected second overall in the NWSL 2018 college draft. McCaskill is joining the Boston Breakers for the upcoming season.
But Sunday, January 21st might have been the height of McCaskill's soccer career so far. In the 70th minute of the United States' women's soccer team friendly against Denmark, McCaskill made her debut playing for the national team.
While McCaskill was in play, the US scored their fifth goal of the game as they handily beat the Danes 5-1 in Sunday's friendly.
After the game, the congratulations flooded in for McCaskill's first career cap with the team. Everyone from US soccer stars Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd to fans of Gamecock nation congratulated her on the huge milestone.
