Columbia Fireflies unveil 2016 uniforms

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - The Columbia Fireflies had a banner day Wednesday as they released their new uniforms and named their coaching staff.

The Mets minor league affiliate presented four uniforms for their debut season in Columbia.

The uniforms are white and navy with 'Fireflies' across the chest for home games, grey and navy with 'Columbia' on the front for road games, a navy mesh batting practice uniform, and bright-neon alternate uniform.

Along with the uniform unveil, the Columbia introduced Jose Leger as the team's manager. He managed the Savannah Sand Gnats last season and has been with the Mets organization for seven years.

The other coaches introduced Wednesday included Jonathan Hurst (pitching coach), Joel Fuentes (hitting coach), Kiyoshi Tada (head trainer) and Alex Tavarez (strenght and conditioning).

The front office said Wednesday that construction on Spirits Communications Park is on-time and on-budget and they are excited for opening day at the new stadium April 14th.
