Gamecock baseball legend Earl Bass passes away at the age of 65

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- South Carolina Gamecock baseball great Earl Bass has passed away at the age of 65.

A standout at Airport High, Bass was a two-time first-team All American for the Gamecocks in 1974 and 1975 and went 34-3 during his four-year career at USC. The right-handed ace set a national record by winning 23 consecutive games and still holds several school records including shutouts (10), ERA (1.34) and strikeouts (392). 3

Just this past spring he was named an SEC Baseball Legend.
