COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- The Gamecocks Women's basketball team opens up the season this Friday night hosting Alabama State. South Carolina will tip off without senior guard Bianca Cuevas-Moore. USC Head Coach Dawn Staley confirmed to the media after Thursday's practice that Cuevas-Moore has a sprained knee.

The Bronx, N.Y. native did not practice Thursday and was seen wearing a wrap on her left knee. Staley also told reporters that South Carolina's medical staff does not think the injury will "linger" or become something serious.
