COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) -- On Saturday, A'ja Wilson was named the Naismith Player of the Year, marking his fifth National Player of the Year honor this season. In addition, Wilson is a finalist for the Wooden National Player of the Year Award, which will be announced this Friday.

While Wilson's long-list of accolades continue to add up. University of South Carolina Director of Athletics Ray Tanner song high-praise for the Heathwood Hall product during Saturday's spring football game.

"She deserves everything that comes her way. She's done everything the right way as a student-athlete," said Tanner. "She has produced (on the court) but she has been remarkable off the court as-well."

When talking about the greatest Gamecocks ever, coach Tanner says there's no arguing the greatness Wilson has left behind in her legacy buy says it's not easy when comparing athletes from different sports.

"It is very difficult, but certainly I think it's safe to say that when she has an opportunity to go into the Hall of Fame she's probably a first-ballot."
