USC's Webb drafted by Yankees

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina senior pitcher Tyler Webb was chosen by the New York Yankees in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft on Friday.

The lefthander was the 314th overall pick. Webb, who was named third-team All-America this season by Collegiate Baseball and a second-team All-SEC honoree, is among the nation's leaders in saves with17, including nine saves in conference games.

He has not allowed a run in 25 of his 30 relief appearances this season. Webb has a 3-2 record with a 1.36 ERA in 39.2 innings pitched. He has 60 strikeouts and just 12 walks. Opponents are batting just .205 against him.

Webb has pitched in relief in 96 career appearances and is 11-3 with 20 saves. So far in his postseason career, Webb has been unbeatable, racking up a 3-0 record with two saves, 25 strikeouts and a 0.72 ERA in 25 innings of work.
